'I got your book from Amazon and wanted to let you know how very much I was moved by it. I have to say I was so fascinated by your story and your wonderful family. What a great legacy! I think your book should be on the curriculum in each school. I have been reading excerpts to our older grandchildren and seeing our 7 and 4-year-olds, it really brings home how young you were to overcome such adversity.  I will ensure they will not forget the people of Guernsey and Jersey so wonderfully honoured by your words'.

'Congratulations on your book which arrived on Thursday and which I have now read and thoroughly enjoyed. I read on and I tried to visualise all the places and people you described so well. My daughter also bought the book at Manchester airport, en route to a week's holiday in Crete'.

'I have started to read your book and I must repeat myself by saying that you are a wonderful storyteller, your language style is poetic, mighty, powerful, very impressive. It's a great joy, sometimes fun and it's always very interesting to read it! Thank you so much'.

I have just finished reading your excellent book, and I really enjoyed reading it. You certainly had two wonderful parents and we had little or no knowledge of what happened in the Channel Islands during the war. Well done on a great piece of work.

I feel I know you through your wonderful prose and words in your amazing book 'The Day The Nazis Came'. I am sitting in my garden in Wellington, New Zealand living every word. I can hear you speaking; I have been with you on every day in your journey – I felt and sensed your pain, happiness and sorrow. For me, I have laughed, cried but always in admiration for you and all the good people of the Channel Islands who entered those dark days many years ago. It has simply been a privilege to read and be part of the journey – something I will never forget.
